Governor adjustment

Hello all. I have a yanmar ym195 tractor that I replaced the external fuel pump on. I was careful not to harm the governor and reinstalled the shims with the new fuel pump. Now I cannot get the rpm adjusted correctly. It idles and runs fine, but will begin creeping up on RPM s with no input to max thr tht

If the RPM keeps rising on its own after replacing the fuel pump, check the governor and shims again, they might be installed wrongly or its sticking. Fixing the governor setup should stop the RPM from creepin

What about the pump timing? Wouldn't it cause similar problems?

Check the governor arm connection to the throttle linkage and make sure its not binding or installed out of alignment. Also, verify that the governor spring is in place and tensioned correctly. Even if the shims were reinstalled, any slight misalignment can affect how the governor regulates engine speed.
