Yanmar 1700 fuel pump trouble

I am helping a buddy with his Yanmar 1700. One injector wasn't firing, and we found the fuel rack stuck, I freed it up and reinstalled the pump, but now it idles super high and the governor won't shut it down, I also had to cut fuel at the filter....the front looks fine, but we need help figuring out the backside setup.

I think the governor linkage didnt get reconnected properly or is out of sync, explains the high idle and why it won't shut down. I'd check that the rack moves freely and that the governor lever is actually controlling it. Did the rack snap back smoothly when you reinstalled the pump?

I agree with @avocadoman , check how the control arm lines up with the governor lever coz sometimes it can look fine up front but be totally off in back. You might need to pull the pump again and realign it with the governor fork.

That makes sense, thanks. The rack moved freely when I reinstalled it, but I'll double-check the governor linkage and sync, it sounds like that could be exactly why it's idling so high
